Stilt House

The stilt house is a practical form of architecture in Fu Tei Au. Its very existence is indeed a clear indication as to the frequent occurrence of local floods. Positioned near the flood-prone Ng Tung River, many families here suffered greatly when river water surged through the village relentlessly. The stilt house was therefore intelligently designed as an adaptation to this natural disaster. The house was elevated by wooden stilts in the past, and has later been replaced by 10 concrete columns that raises 2 meters above the ground. The place remains to be a current residence and has been renovated to satisfy the needs of the family.
